Purpose of This Site

I plan to use this site as a space to share my writing more publicly. I’ve named the site “Writing Wrong” because up until now, I’ve let perfectionism and fear of there being something wrong with my work hold me back from sharing it with others. Through this website, I intend to right this wrong, and more importantly, become more open to writing wrong and publishing work that may never feel fully done. As I explain in greater detail within the My Writing Story post, I hope to achieve several goals through this site:

  • Develop a more active writing practice through the public accountability created by setting up a site to share my work

  • Become a more confident and authentic writer who is less held back by perfectionist tendencies and fear of judgement

  • Bring some form of joy or pleasure to those who read my writing

  • Encourage others to take up writing as a hobby and/or share their work

  • Solicit feedback (see the contact me section below!)

Writing Style

I plan to continue my past practice of being intentionally non prescriptive in my writing style and approach, but have created categories for the different types of pieces I have written to date and/or hope to write in the future. Over time these may change as new themes or interests emerge in my writing:

  • Personal Narrative: I am in the midst of writing a series of short vignettes about different moments in my life. These will fall into the personal narrative category as well as other true stories or essays based on my past experiences

  • Fiction: Fictional short stories will be housed here

  • Poetry: I have created a poetry section to capture poems and other more free form styles of writing

  • Musings: This will be a space for musings on current events and topics of personal interest that don’t fit neatly into the creative writing space. I also intend to use this section to review books I’ve read, publish book lists, and generally write about the works of other authors

About Me

I’m a 26 year old, at times overly optimistic, woman navigating early adulthood. I graduated from Grinnell College with a double major in Economics and Gender, Women’s, and Sexuality Studies in 2016, and then worked in New York City at the intersections of the asset management and Non-Profit spaces in various Corporate Strategy and Development roles. I’m now living in Boston enjoying being a student again as I pursue my MBA. I’m interested in the intersections of social impact, healthcare, and technology.

I enjoy writing and reading, fitness (especially rock climbing, biking, swimming, and weightlifting), playing music (piano) and volunteering my time to expand higher education access to low income individuals.
